Actor Park Seong-il is newly joining ENA's Monday-Tuesday drama Climax.
Park Seong-il, who has stood out with exceptional acting skills in each project, is cast as the Shadow in Climax following his role in Mad Concrete Dreams and will make his full appearance starting in episode 8.
The "Shadow" is a closest aide to leading presidential candidate Son Guk-won (played by Ju Jin-mo) and a key figure in his campaign's funding source, the "Daeyang Fund case." As his name implies, he secretly orchestrates the flow of power and slush funds without revealing his identity, and because he holds a major key to the plot's development, his arrival is expected to raise the show's immersion immediately.
Climax is a work that depicts a fierce survival drama unfolding within a power cartel competing for Korea's top position, and it has drawn attention for its fast-paced development and the actors' dense performances. Amid the intense ambitions and competitive dynamics of Bang Tae-seop (played by Ju Jihoon), I Yang-mi (played by Cha Joo-young), and Kwon Jong-wook (played by Oh Jung-se), expectations are growing over whether Park Seong-il's joining will act as a major variable that shakes up the second half.
Earlier, Park Seong-il left a strong impression in Mad Concrete Dreams as a municipal architectural policy chief of staff who is a power broker shaping the big picture of the Sejeong-ro redevelopment project by moving political and business circles whenever he appears. He delicately expresses a chilling ruthlessness hidden behind his sly and boisterous demeanor and a dual nature that changes faces depending on the situation, giving viewers strong immersion. Subtle changes in his speech, an overwhelming stare, and restrained but composed gestures that control the situation—each small element increases the character's persuasiveness, heightens the show's suspense, and simultaneously arouses curiosity about the character.
