Group Super Junior member Ryeowook opened up about the recent fall accident at a concert.
On the 7th, Ryeowook posted a long message on his personal Instagram saying, "First, I wanted to explain to ELF about what happened this time. As soon as the accident happened, I felt a lot of self-blame toward the friends who were hurt in that situation."
Earlier, at the Super Junior concert held on the 5th, there was an accident in which fences collapsed at the end of the performance, causing audience members to fall. As a result, three people were injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Ryeowook said, "I feel like the fans were hurt because of me, and maybe it's because I got too close to the fans? Couldn't I have done more to catch them at the moment they fell? With much regret and shock, my accident-response was momentarily halted."
He continued, "I'm not someone whose mind works that quickly, so I felt foolish that I froze for a moment from the shock. If that looked bad, I'm sorry. Still, I'm really grateful that so many ELFs who know me well understood and explained it."
Ryeowook said, "And I had many conversations with the friends who were injured at the hospital, and even while in pain they worried about me and cried saying they were more sorry — I don't think I'll forget that." He added, "Even after more than 20 years of activity since debut, this is the first time an accident happened right in front of my eyes, so honestly my heart was very heavy, but I'm so, so thankful they weren't badly hurt… I'm grateful that ELFs worried and comforted us so much."
Ryeowook concluded the post by saying, "And above all, because we have to keep meeting our ELFs going forward, Super Junior will pay more attention to and care about safety. Let's all meet safely and for a long time without anyone getting hurt."
Meanwhile, regarding the fall accident, SM Entertainment issued a statement saying, "We offer our deep apologies to those who were harmed by this accident and their families. We will support treatment so that the injured audience members can fully recover, and we will do our best until they are completely recovered."
It was reported that Ryeowook, who witnessed the fall accident up close, went to the hospital and stayed by the injured until the end.
