Broadcaster Seo Yu-ri said a third provisional measure was issued after she revealed she was a victim of stalking.
On the 7th Seo Yu-ri wrote on her social account, "After raising public awareness and when broadcast media began reporting, on April 6 a third provisional measure was issued. The first, the second, and today the third. During the three provisional measures the perpetrator has never been punished even once. In the meantime I had to write a petition and became a suspect," she said.
Seo Yu-ri said, "Provisional measures are a system to protect victims. But provisional measures do not punish perpetrators. They only temporarily protect the victim's space; they do not break the perpetrator's intent to commit crimes. Each time the provisional measure ends the victim must go through that procedure again. I endured it three times."
She continued, "The stalking punishment law provides for criminal punishment for violation of provisional measures. It can even lead to detention for investigation. Requesting an arrest warrant for a suspect who destroyed evidence and even confessed is an appropriate procedure allowed by law," adding, "but even now, after the perpetrator filed retaliatory complaints, no arrest has been made and no punishment has been carried out."
Seo Yu-ri pointed out, "There is a law. There are procedures. But those procedures did not work. When the law does not work, what else can a victim do?"
Earlier, Seo Yu-ri filed a complaint under the stalking punishment law against a perpetrator who had been leaving malicious comments since 2020, but said that after the case was sent to the prosecution the investigation was delayed; she posted details of the stalking, the perpetrator's surname, that the perpetrator was sent to the prosecution, and a petition form requesting the perpetrator's strict punishment.
Meanwhile, Seo Yu-ri married producer Choi Byung-gil in 2019 but divorced in June 2024.
