Singer and entrepreneur Ryang Ha (real name Kim Ryangha) expressed her ambition to succeed in both work and romance.
Ryang Ha appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel "Byungjin hyung" on the 6th and gave a warm greeting. In a phone interview with OSEN on the 7th, she said, "I've been investing in myself and growing the business, and recently I finished the meal kit Ryang Jjajang 1 and released Ryang Jjajang 2. While doing that, I also received a new song and I'm looking into companies to pursue solo activities while I work on it," she said, updating fans on her current status.
He, who released the album "REVAMP" in 2020 under the name "Ryangha effect," said, "At that time I felt like what I was doing hadn't found its footing, and I felt I wasn't solid enough businesswise, so I wanted to do more business," and added, "I'm doing two things now. I'm doing online marketing work as an influencer, and I'm running a meal kit business under my name, which has settled into a position. So I'm now loosening up my body a bit. I'm out of breath, so I'm trying to move while loosening up my body," explaining the reason he resumed singer activities.
The "Ryangha effect" YouTube channel, which had paused uploads for a while, will also be revived. Ryang Ha said, "Rather than releasing an album right away, I plan to gradually share the preparation process as content. I think it's good to share my damaged current physical condition and things like that, because my body doesn't obey like before. I can still do the old b-boy moves, but whereas before I could do them consecutively, now I get out of breath after one rotation. I plan to share dancing and things like that while preparing," and added, "I'll start uploading again as a channel that shares and communicates 'I'm starting preparations now.'"
She also hinted at a preview of a new song to be released in the future. Ryang Ha said, "I have one song lined up now; it's an acoustic-feeling song. I'm writing the lyrics. Rather than 'This is who I am, this is how I've lived, I've passed through,' I wrote lyrics about my experiences and things I've learned from people I met while living. I wrote lyrics like, 'Just because I'm older or an adult doesn't mean everything is fine. Our age can also be difficult.' I want to create empathy through that kind of lyric," she said, raising expectations.
In particular, Ryang Ha formalized her romantic relationship with racing model Kim Hee through the "Byungjin hyung" channel, generating great interest. Responding to attention toward him, he said sheepishly, "I'm not that hot to reveal a relationship," and revealed, "We haven't been dating that long. It's been five months."
The two had been friends for more than 10 years and developed into lovers through a chance opportunity. Ryang Ha explained, "There was a party where influencers and people in business gathered. We met after a long time and hit it off. So I suggested meeting on Pepero Day," he said. The two, who became a couple last November, opened the YouTube channel "100만유튜버h" around the same time and are uploading short-form content.
Ryang Ha explained, "We met while planning YouTube content. At first we talked about content, and that's how we became lovers. From friends to lovers." He said that "Heeya," the featuring artist on the song "Ryang Jjajang," released in January this year, was also his girlfriend Kim Hee. He added with a laugh, "From friends maybe to marriage someday. Through content, we ended up holding each other back in a way."
When asked, "Are you dating with marriage in mind?" he joked, "We haven't planned that far in advance, but given how well we match, and that she chose to be with me after seeing my face," and said, "So sometimes she says, 'Why did you come now?' Then my girlfriend replies, 'Why did you confess only now?'"
When asked if they would be willing to share their eventual marriage as content, he said, "Yes. If we then have twins it would be even better content. I'll aim for 'The Return of SUPERMAN.' People will be surprised. They'll say, 'Now he showed up as an ajusshi,'" he quipped, drawing laughter.
He also recounted the story of the missing "settlement money 2 billion" incident he mentioned on air. During the Ryanghyun Ryangha days, all the settlement money they had received was cashed out and kept by their father, but while Ryanghyun and Ryang Ha were in the military, their father suddenly died of a myocardial infarction, leaving the whereabouts of the money unknown.
Ryang Ha said, "The reason I say 1 billion is because you can calculate it. There was an article when we debuted. At that time our CF appearance fee was set at a little over 100 million. You can figure out how much that is. I remember filming more than 10 CFs. Just the CFs at that time amounted to 1 billion. If you count other events and broadcasts, it's probably more than that. JYP's settlement ratio is 5 to 5, so even after deductions, splitting it in half was still a large sum back then. There would have been album earnings too. I mentioned there were about six shoeboxes where my father had put bankbooks," he said, describing the enormous scale of the settlement money.
Regarding speculation that their father may have spent the money, Ryang Ha said, "He did spend it. After all, there were older brothers I met while I was active, like dancer brothers and manager brothers, and I still keep in touch with them. To be honest, my father told them over and over that he had financed another album just by buying them meals. He bought a lot of meals for the dancers and bought many things for fans. He definitely spent a lot of money. But those were just buying meals. So I don't know where that money went," he explained.
He added, "People ask about that. Don't you want to find it? But I don't particularly want to. I don't want to stay stuck in the past or hold on to regrets. I feel I can just work hard and earn it again. It's better to live with the hope that it's somewhere. That's how I live," he said, conveying a positive mindset.
Finally, when asked about future activity plans, Ryang Ha said, "I've known since I was young that you only see the path by moving. Luckily I got an opportunity to receive a song. I received it from the person who arranges songs for Kim Gunmo, and it's been only a short time since I got the song. The song has just arrived, so I'm practicing now, and once practice progresses I plan to release (content) saying 'I'm preparing to promote like this,' and I think the path will become clearer," he said.
He said, "Then if a company sends a love call, we'll work together and, uh?X uh?X, the goal is to release an album again and be active on broadcasts while keeping the business running well on its own. I'll accomplish both sides and even manage to do romance as the third," he declared.
