The director of 'Riotous People 2' revealed a meeting with director Bong Joon-ho during filming.
Netflix held a virtual press conference for the original series 'Riotous People 2' on the morning of the 7th. Director Lee Seong-jin, who directed the series, and actor Charles Melton attended the event and spoke with domestic reporters.
'Riotous People 2' is a drama that depicts the story of a fierce battle of wits of cajoling and pressure between two couples and the owner of the club, a Korean billionaire, after a young couple at a country club frequented by the privileged witness a shocking fight between their boss and his wife. It returns for season 2 three years after season 1, which was released in 2023.
In particular, this season was filmed in Korea and features Korean actors such as Song Kang-ho and Yoon Yeo-jeong, which further reflects the sensibilities of Korean Americans. In this regard, director Lee Seong-jin explained, "If season 1 dealt with the stories of Korean Americans, in season 2 I wanted to deal with people with roots in Korea like Charles. I wanted to tell stories about people tugging at their identities, so I wanted to also address conflicts involving Korea's chaebol world and the other side. I was also eager to explore differences in Western and Eastern education, so I have high expectations."
He also recalled the filming in Korea, saying, "Shooting a scene at the Amorepacific building with actors Song Kang-ho and Yoon Yeo-jeong appearing together was the career-high moment of my work." Above all, he said with a laugh that he was excited, "At that time director Bong Joon-ho came to the set and nudged my side while asking, 'Are you going to shoot it like this?' I think that moment will remain in my memory for a very long time."
'Riotous People 2' will be released on Netflix on the 16th. <
