Actor Hwang Bo-ra expressed deep guilt as she recalled the image of her mother who had suffered a serious accident while caring for her son Woo-in.

That day Hwang Bo-ra, after many twists and turns sending her son Woo-in to daycare, ate and began preparing to go out. She said, "Not long ago my mother had a serious accident. Her face was bruised and her hand swollen, but she said she was fine. Is that normal? Adults insist too much on not going to the hospital. They act like they are the doctors," and added, "I think we need to take her to the hospital. I'm so worried that there might be a problem with her brain."
Earlier Hwang Bo-ra last month released a photo of her mother with dark bruises and abrasions, saying, "Today my mother fell while going to catch Woo-in in the parking lot and collapsed," drawing sympathy.
She said, "They say the place children must be most careful is the parking lot. We always told mom over and over. Be careful in the parking lot. I especially warned that large cars like SUVs can have blind spots where small kids like Woo-in aren't visible, so you must be really careful, but Woo-in actually doesn't want to sit in the stroller now and keeps wanting to run. He kept running. So mom was startled and ran to grab him, and when we were reversing there are those speed bumps, right? Mom slammed down there and temporarily lost consciousness," she recounted in detail.
She said, "Even then she shouted because of Woo-in. She yelled, 'Please hold my grandson.' A car next to them kept honking. Not knowing what would happen, while she had lost consciousness my mother mustered all her strength, saw the car and crawled. She said, 'Hit me first, don't hit Woo-in.' She said she crawled with all her might. But a passing woman found them and grabbed Woo-in. She said she couldn't remember who that woman was. She had briefly lost consciousness. I'm so grateful," she said.
She continued, "That day my mother's face and arms were heavily bruised but she kept saying she didn't need to go to the hospital. My mother also has a bad back. My mother raised me on her back. Whenever Woo-in sees his mother he whines to be carried. I really feel like I'm a worthless daughter. I married late, you know. I lived hard when I was young but I didn't save money and I blame myself so much, wondering what we did. We made mom and dad suffer. There's anxiety about the future. And yet raising a child is fun. Woo-in grows up and mom and dad get old and frail. As a daughter watching that, my heart really feels torn these days," she confessed.
Hwang Bo-ra said, "You don't know how much I cried that day. I tried to hold back my tears in front of my mother... I kept sinking feeling worried that something might happen," and added, "Why is my mother like this... I truly hate myself. Why did this happen. This morning Woo-in threw a tantrum and really refused to brush his teeth and I was exhausted. I shouted. But I'm so sorry," she said, her eyes reddening.
She said, "Wasn't Woo-in really hard-won? I'm so thankful. And maybe from daycare, these days he even says things like 'just a moment.' He says so many words I've never heard before and I'm proud. And when Woo-in does something cute and smiles..." she said, "Watching him grow day by day just feels precious. If Woo-in is just happy, that seems enough," she said with affection, adding to the poignancy.
Later Hwang Bo-ra took her mother to the hospital for tests. She said, "On the brain CT there appeared to be only a concussion and no other particular problems, so that's a relief. The ongoing dizziness and nausea may be due to some anxiety, so just in case we even visited psychiatry. I'm so sorry and feel apologetic," she repeatedly expressed her guilty feelings toward her mother.
Meanwhile, Hwang Bo-ra married actor and film producer Cha Hyun-woo, the son of actor Kim Yong-gun and the brother of Ha Jung-woo, in 2022. The two underwent in vitro procedures continuously for a child, and in May 2024 they welcomed their first son, Woo-in.
