A popular Japanese YouTuber known as Jepa, who had more than 600,000 subscribers, suddenly died at the age of 26.
On the 6th, a notice was posted on Jepa's channels including X (formerly Twitter) saying, "We are sorry to announce sudden news of a death. Jepa suddenly passed away. We apologize on his behalf for this sudden obituary."
According to Jepa's side, the funeral was held with only relatives in attendance. Jepa's side expressed, "We are deeply grateful for the warm friendship the deceased received during his lifetime."
Born in 1999, Jepa opened his YouTube channel in April 2022 and surpassed 150,000 subscribers in just half a year. He quickly grew in popularity with drinking live streams and fan interaction content; although he once suspended channel operations, he resumed activities in 2024 and had been actively continuing them, launching a new YouTube channel in March.
What made the news of Jepa's death particularly shocking was that it came about a week after the launch of the new channel. Tamurakae and Morgen, who worked with Jepa as part of a three-person YouTube group, expressed deep sorrow over the sudden obituary.
Meanwhile, the cause of Jepa's death has not been disclosed.
