'Gunch e' Jun Ji-hyun confessed that after meeting her peer actress Kim Shin-rock she reflected.
On the morning of the 6th at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul, a production briefing for the film 'Gunch e' was held. Attending were director Yeon Sang-ho, lead actors Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Changwook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rock, Go Soo, and others.
'Gunch e' (director Yeon Sang-ho, distributed by SHOWBOX, produced by WOWPOINT·Smilegate, co-produced by Midnight Studio) is a work that depicts the struggle of isolated survivors inside a building sealed off by a mysterious infectious outbreak as they fight infected people who evolve into unpredictable forms. It heralds a new evolution of the zombie genre while also being the new work of director Yeon Sang-ho, who made 'Train to Busan', 'The Face', and 'Hell'.
Director Yeon Sang-ho is expected to introduce the birth of a new species different from existing zombies through 'Gunch e' and once again show the evolution of the genre. Adding to that, Jun Ji-hyun, returning to the screen after 11 years since the film 'Assassination', along with Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Changwook, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Shin-rock, and Go Soo create a dazzling lineup that raises expectations by name alone, and they are expected to show a powerful and fresh ensemble.
Jun Ji-hyun returns to the screen after 11 years with Yeon Sang-ho's new film 'Gunch e'. She delivers a passionate performance as Kwon Se-jung, a biotechnologist and leader of the survivors.
Playing the leader of the survivor group, Jun Ji-hyun said, "The raw feeling came through vividly on set. So preparing separately felt calculated. So I think it worked better to not prepare and to receive the raw feeling as it was and act."
She went on, "As the leader of the survivors, I had to lead many survivors and be on site," and "The most frustrating moments were Hyun-hee (played by Kim Shin-rock) and Hyun-seok (played by Ji Changwook). If it were a real situation, someone like Hyun-hee, who uses a wheelchair due to a lower-body disability, would have been abandoned before.. (laughter) My character couldn't do that. I was often frustrated with Hyun-hee. On set I told her, 'Get up and walk quickly.' I said that to a friend who can't walk. (laughter) That much urgency came out on set. It was hard moving between reality and the character," she said candidly, eliciting laughter.
Also, Jun Ji-hyun added, "Personally, actress Kim Shin-rock is the same age as me, and it is not easy for an actress to meet a peer actress on set. And she was the one I most wanted to meet. There was so much to learn, and she was an actress who made me reflect."
Meanwhile, 'Gunch e' is scheduled to be released in May.
