The girl group KISS OF LIFE opened a new chapter in 2026, their third year since debut, with an album released 10 months after their last one. Emphasizing "beginner's mind," KISS OF LIFE answers questions surrounding them with stages and performances.
KISS OF LIFE (Julie, Natti, Bell, Haneul) on the 6th held a release showcase for their second single 'Who is she (후 이즈 쉬)' at Blue Square in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. That day KISS OF LIFE performed the title track 'Who is she' and the album track 'Don't mind me.'
KISS OF LIFE, who debuted on July 5, 2023, is a four-member girl group made up of Julie, Natti, Bell and Haneul. They attracted great expectations with each member's impressive background even before debut, and released songs such as 'Shhh', 'Bad News', 'Midas Touch', 'Sticky' and 'Lips Hips Kiss', expanding their musical spectrum with each activity and drawing a clear upward curve on the charts. In particular, 'Sitcky' was a major summer hit and brought them their first music show trophy.
KISS OF LIFE, who drew attention with bold styling and distinctive music at every comeback, will showcase even more evolved visuals and musical capabilities through 'Who is she.' Returning about 10 months after the mini album '224,' KISS OF LIFE's second single 'Who is she' focuses on the 'essence as an artist' that pierces the questions and gazes surrounding KISS OF LIFE from their debut to now, aiming to continue their path as artists rather than provide immediate answers.
Bell said, "I got inspiration while touring for 10 months. I communicated with many audiences and performed on stage, and I felt this kind of energy existed. I think we musically grew by reflecting what we gained during the hiatus, and I wanted to perform music with strong delivery because I thought it important for the audience to feel something."
KISS OF LIFE emphasized "beginner's mind." Julie said about "beginner's mind," "Three years can be short or long, but three years felt like an important period for us, so we kept bringing up beginner's mind. I think it's passion and love for our music. I wanted the public to once again feel the sincerity we put into our performances," and added, "We presented being the underdog because from our debut we thought it was okay not to be perfect, to be uncertain and unstable, and to accept that while trying to grow. So we thought of ourselves as the underdog, and if you ask where our position is in the music industry now, we still don't want to settle because we can continue to grow."
The title track of the same name, 'Who is she,' reflects the true artistic self KISS OF LIFE aims for. Starting from an undefined position, the song translates that perspective into intense sound and performance, using the intuitive composition of early 2000s dance pop with a sophisticated sensibility to portray the awakening artist's charisma more powerfully. KISS OF LIFE maximized the group's distinctive hip mood and unique charisma, and based on the passion, effort and confidence they have built, they will fully demonstrate their qualities as "stage divas."
About the title track, Julie said, "The song's sound carries nostalgia for early 2000s dance pop, and since we like 2000s-style music, the repeating beat hits the heart so I wanted to show this song on stage quickly," and Natti explained the choreography points are the sections using microphones and the move that points and asks 'Who are you.' She said, "When I first heard it I immediately thought this song was ours. I thought this stage performance could come out very powerfully." Haneul said, "Students can listen on their way to school, office workers on their way to work, when going to an interview, when going to get a refund—whenever you need courage, listening will give you energy."
Bell said, "If someone asks 'Who is she,' I want us to be a team that explains just by performing. Becoming a team that can be explained by the stage is this comeback's goal. For this comeback our goal is to top music charts because I think music charts are an accurate indicator, so we want to be number one on various charts. I hope we become a great song that many people always want to listen to."
They also talked about the music video, which leaves an impression with exploding scenes. Bell said, "It was so cold that I couldn't see the car with the flames next to it. In the cold, when the flames burst and the car drifted, that felt hot. I felt extreme cold and extreme heat at the same time." Haneul said, "It was very cold, but seeing the result made the cold feel insignificant and I feel proud," and Julie said, "Because filming the music video was difficult and strenuous, we filmed with great people and talked a lot. We made good memories with many people over three days."
The album track 'Don't mind me' captures a more relaxed and free moment that followed. It expresses the message that one can be sufficiently happy even now, alone after a breakup, as a "party for myself," and conveys their cool and free mood with vibrant vocals and energy. Bell said, "We are coming back in April after 10 months, and coincidentally we can be with various artists, so I'm looking forward to it. I think the stage and song we show this time are hard to find these days. If you see our unique performance you'll feel a new flavor."
