Group KickFlip returned with a "in-your-face" charm. Telling the radiant youth of their 20s in KickFlip's lively and bold style, they are ready to captivate music fans.
KickFlip held a showcase at 2 p.m. on the 6th at YES24 Live Hall in Gwangjang-dong, Gwangjin District, Seoul, to commemorate the release of their fourth mini album "My First Kick (My First Kick)" and unveiled the new songs on stage for the first time.
Released at 6 p.m. that day, My First Kick includes seven tracks in total: the title track "I want to be in your way", pre-release track "Twenty (Twenty)", "Stup!d (Stup!d)", "Upside Down", "Scroll (Scroll)", "Roar (Roar)" and "My Direction (My Direction)". The members are credited on all tracks, proving their further developed musical potential.
The title track "I want to be in your way" is a hyper-punk-based dance song that lets listeners experience KickFlip's bolder change, and the exciting yet unabashedly forward love energy is appealing. The group's cheeky delivery, which has become a hot topic as masters of flirting, adds vitality to this straightforward confession song that rushes toward first love without hesitation.
Keheon, who participated in writing and composing, said, "It's an unabashedly bold confession song. It's a song that shows KickFlip's lively flirting," and added, "The reason I've been flirting is because I want to make the public aware of us. I wrote this song wanting to be in many people's way."
Keheon said he wanted to further imprint the team's presence with "Kickral" rather than "Gyeral," saying, "'Kickral' is not because of me but a feeling that all the members have. Personally, I hope that through this promotion 'Kickral' expands and becomes more widely known."
Park Jin-Young also understood and supported KickFlip's intention. Regarding Park Jin-Young's reaction, Keheon said, "The producer said that people who like my communication platform would like this song. I am honored. We will live up to expectations."
With the previous release My First Flip, which cheerfully sang about first love, KickFlip captured the prologue of being in their 20s and the first challenges of radiant youth in this new record.
Regarding the team's identity expressed in this release, KickFlip said, "We have an identity in rock sound, but we want to challenge a wider range of music. We think the emotions and freshness that people in their 20s feel are our identity," and added, "I think constantly heading toward many challenges is an identity."
Donghyun, who became an adult this year, said, "All members have become adults. It seems we have become more manly and cool. While not losing our bright image, we will show a more mature side."
They also expressed ambitions to reach number one on music shows. Member Juwang chose bungee jumping, and Keju pledged, as the song title suggests, "I will try singing the lyrics backward." Keheon added, "True to 'Kickral', I will wear cool and cute clothes and perform an encore stage."
Debuting in the music industry last January with the album Flip it, Kick it!, KickFlip released mini album 2 Kick Out, Flip Now! and mini 3 My First Flip, accumulating diverse achievements such as a first-place finish on a terrestrial music show following their debut, winning multiple new artist awards at various music ceremonies, and performing at major global festivals. Early this year, they completed their first fan concert tour of 12 shows across five cities nationwide, 2026 KickFlip FAN-CON "From KickFlip, To WeFlip", equipping themselves with live and performance kick points.
