The group ILLIT (ILLIT) released their third Japanese digital single, 'Bubee', today (6th) at 12:00 a.m.
ILLIT's new single 'Bubee' is a dance-pop song based on J-pop with Shibuya-kei subculture sensibilities added. Inspired by "Buddy," meaning comrade or friend, the song carries the message that you can do anything when you are with the person you love. The bubbly lyrics were written by popular Japanese singer-songwriter noa, who had previously collaborated on ILLIT's first Japanese single track "Topping."
The dance challenge is also getting a positive response. The 'Bubee' performance was created by well-known choreographer Makida Sako (田紗子), who was responsible for the choreography of a popular local group. The choreography, which consists of moves anyone can easily follow, such as exchanging glances to make a heart, creates a special synergy with ILLIT, which leads short-form trends with highly addictive challenges for each released song.
The song is used as the opening theme for the Japanese TV animation "Magical Sisters Lulutoriri," which premiered on the previous day (5th). The fact that it is featured in the new work from Studio Pierrot, which has produced the "magical girl" series since 1983, drew attention from animation fans.
ILLIT said they imagined themselves as "magical girls" and recorded with bright smiles to bring out the cute, fresh charm befitting an animation theme song. They added that they prepared a dance challenge that friends, lovers and families can do together to match the theme of "Bubee," and asked people to enjoy it together.
ILLIT will release their fourth mini album, MAMIHLAPINATAI (MAMIHLAPINATAPAI), on the 30th and make a comeback. A special festival to commemorate it, the "ILLIT Seoul Children's Grand Park Festival," will also be held on May 5. The event will feature various experience booths and a stage for the new song themed around the title track "It's Me," providing an opportunity for fans as well as friends and families to make joyful memories together.
