"Climax" star Ha Jiwon mentioned her thoughts on filming a same-sex kissing scene with Nana.
On the afternoon of the 6th, an interview with Ha Jiwon, the lead actor of ENA's Monday-Tuesday drama "Climax," was held at the ENA conference hall in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
"Climax" depicts prosecutor Bang Tae-seop, who jumps into a cartel of power to reach the highest position in Korea, and the fierce survival drama of those around him. Ha Jiwon is passionately performing as Chu Sang-a, a once top actress who has fallen from grace. After marrying Bang Tae-seop (Ju Jihoon), a prosecutor thirsty for success, she makes a dangerous transaction with entertainment company CEO Lee Yang-mi (Cha Joo-young) to return to her position as a top star. In this process, shocking developments such as a past kiss with a same-sex lover, suspicions of arranging a murder, and industry sponsors created surprise.
Earlier, Ha Jiwon changed her body for the role of actress Chu Sang-a. She said, "Because Ha Jiwon has a very healthy image, I deliberately changed my body. I reduced some muscle through intense exercise and weight training and used stretching to make it look long and sensitive. Through that, I think the work of erasing myself was more difficult." In addition to the drama, she is also showing a new side that had not been seen before by experiencing college life on her YouTube channel "26hak beon Ji-won iyo."
The material and acting in "Climax" are both shocking, and Ha Jiwon said, "I am grateful that viewers are enjoying the drama in their own ways. I am most grateful that people seem to enjoy the character Chu Sang-a," adding, "I am most grateful because I am receiving so much love after doing a drama in a long time."
She added, "I haven't heard many varied drama reviews yet. Because I've been shooting '26hak Ji-won iyo' and keeping to my schedule, I haven't been able to hear fans' reactions above all," and said, "But because the gap between the characters and feelings that actress Ha Jiwon has played before and this one is large, many people say 'It's too different,' so I feel that."
In a recent broadcast, Chu Sang-a mistakenly kissed Hwang Jeong-won (Nana) after confusing her with her deceased same-sex lover Han Ji-soo, and the scene caused a big stir.
When asked about her acting chemistry with Nana, she said, "Chu Sang-a and Hwang Jeong-won have a same-sex dynamic, so I wondered, 'Would they match?' We filmed and monitored it ourselves, and the visuals matched so well. While monitoring, we said things like, 'They match well.' Our chemistry was good," and she smiled, saying, "Nana also made her partner feel comfortable, so we filmed the kissing scene without difficulty and comfortably."
Ha Jiwon also praised, "When I look at Nana's activities, I think she acts well and 'builds her characters stylishly.'"
Meanwhile, "Climax" is a 10-episode series that airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m.
