In 'Manitto Club,' actor Cha Taehyun became a public enemy for his 'geukT' remark.
On the 5th broadcast of MBC's entertainment program 'Manitto Club,' third-season members Cha Taehyun, Park Boyoung, Lee Sun-bin, Kang Hoon and Hwang Kwanghee, formerly of ZE: A, finally met. The Manitto circle continued in the order Cha Taehyun, Kang Hoon, Hwang Kwanghee, Lee Sun-bin, Park Boyoung and Cha Taehyun again. They focused on trying to guess each other's Manitto.
On the train traveling to Ulsan to find the secret Manitto, most people had already guessed their Manitto's identity. But only Cha Taehyun was off the mark. He thought his Manitto would be a man because of the handwriting on the card his Manitto gave him, and aside from Kang Hoon, whom he had given a gift to, he thought Hwang Kwanghee was the person who gave him a present.
But Cha Taehyun's actual Manitto was Park Boyoung. Park Boyoung, who became Cha Taehyun's agency head in the program, gave him a Korean name seal, a handmade paper nameplate and sneakers that were comfortable though the logo was large. However, the seal and nameplate were completely useless to Cha Taehyun, and although the sneakers were comfortable, the large logo made him question whether they were suitable for broadcast. Eventually Cha Taehyun said, "It was the most useless to me," drawing criticism.
Hurt by the blunt criticism, Park Boyoung was comforted by her Manitto Lee Sun-bin. Lee Sun-bin encouraged Park Boyoung with heartfelt gifts meant as "support," including a rolling paper filled with messages, a serenade, and photos and videos documenting the gift preparation process.
Cha Taehyun prioritized the efficiency of gifts, even handing over 1 gram of pure gold using his daughter, in a display of that mindset. Cha Taehyun even said about Kang Hoon, "This guy has strong material desires. He likes luxury goods. I called Kim Jong Kook, who knows you well, and he said that. He hasn't bought luxury goods before, and because he hasn't experienced much of that, he'd like it if he received one." In response, Kang Hoon protested, "How can you say that I 'like luxury goods'? I've never bought luxury goods."
Kang Hoon then said he was "so jealous" of Lee Sun-bin's proposal-level efforts for Park Boyoung. He even said, "After thinking about it, I'm not mad at hyung Taehyun, I'm starting to get mad at producer Kim Tae-ho above that. The person who chose my Manitto," which drew laughs.
