Hwanhee opened up about his feelings amid conflict with his mother.
On the 4th, KBS2's Mr. House Husband season 2 aired an episode in which Hwanhee, who had been the subject of controversy over a confession of being an unfilial son, embarked on a "filial piety project" to get closer to his 74-year-old mother.
That day Hwanhee personally set out with the goal of moving in with his mother. He rolled up his sleeves to fix a broken toilet in the bathroom, and after about 20 years together led her on an outing to a traditional market, making efforts to repair their relationship.
At the market he took on the role of a porter and showed a caring side, but his mother, rather, watched her son's reactions and could not easily choose a single item. Afterwards she admitted, "It was a little uncomfortable," and an awkward atmosphere lingered.
The conflict erupted on the way home. The mother handed Hwanhee a white envelope and said, "You spent a lot of money today, didn't you? I took out some cash," indicating she had prepared cash separately to return the money Hwanhee spent at the market.
The mother continued, "Your son worked really hard to earn it. How could he be stingy about giving money to his mother?" expressing remorse, but Hwanhee raised his voice, "Why are you always apologizing to me like that? People live like this, families live like this. Did I spend one million won there? You can't stand that either. Mom's personality is too much. She's not a stranger. Is she acting like someone else?"
In response, the mother retorted, "Why are you snapping at me? Just let it be. Why do I always have to be indebted to you?" and Hwanhee also confessed his hurt, saying, "I was shocked that you wanted to give it back exactly as it was. Do I have to settle accounts like this with you?"
