Perfect Crown, starring IU and Byeon Woo-seok, is a drama set in 21st-century constitutional monarchy Korea that depicts a romance of social-class defiance and fate between a woman who has everything as a chaebol but whose status is only that of a commoner and thus finds it frustrating, and a sad man who is a prince but can have nothing. IU plays the chaebol yet commoner female lead Seong Hee-ju, and Byeon Woo-seok plays Prince Ian Dae-gun, who cannot have anything.
The drama is attracting intense interest, especially as it is Byeon Woo-seok's first drama since the syndrome-hit Lovely Runner. Despite IU having publicly dated actor Lee Jong-suk in 2022 and being in an open relationship, fans have been ecstatic over the chemistry with Byeon Woo-seok even before the broadcast, dubbing them "Daegun-ppyoo" (short for Daegun couple).
