Actor Kim Seung-hyun and broadcasting writer Jang Jeong-yoon appealed their grievance over malicious comments calling them "poverty peddlers."
On the 5th, the Kim Seung-hyun couple uploaded a video titled "The Kim Seung-hyun family suffering from malicious commenters + shorts creators who repost without permission" to their YouTube channel Gwangsan Kim family. In the released video, the couple confessed that while driving they were troubled by malicious comments after recent YouTube content was reproduced as articles and shorts.
Kim Seung-hyun expressed his grievance, saying, "My alter ego character Bonjour Kim drew a caricature of my mother and said he would read physiognomy, and when that was turned into an article it spread as if 'he couldn't make money so he became a physiognomist.'"
Jang Jeong-yoon revealed, "Comments like 'go out and get a job' were posted, but I know how diligent and hard-working my husband is. It upsets me so much that they insist on treating him like an idler who just stays at home."
She went on to emphasize, "We are living without financial lack. Mr. Kim Seung-hyun does events and makes money, but because people talk as if he doesn't earn anything at all I saw comments like 'don't sell poverty,' but we have never done that. We have no intention of selling poverty."
Eventually Jang Jeong-yoon said, "There were comments among the malicious ones like this: 'Even doing manual labor would keep your body healthy; worrying about formula costs at home is pathetic,'" and appealed, "When I see things like that I am so upset I can't sleep at night," referring to the provocative shorts' comments.
She even added, "Even acquaintances were deceived. My father asked, 'Seung-hyun, are you having a hard time these days?' Since older people watch shorts a lot, it upsets me even more each time," revealing her distress.
Kim Seung-hyun became a topic of conversation as a single father after raising his first daughter alone following a relationship with a former girlfriend. He married writer Jang Jeong-yoon in 2020, had a second daughter, and shares their daily life through YouTube and broadcasts.
