In Your Radiant Season ended its run with a radiant happy ending.
The final episode of the MBC Friday-Saturday drama In Your Radiant Season (planned by Namgung Seong-woo, written by Jo Seong-hee, directed by Jeong Sang-hee and Kim Young-jae, produced by Pan Entertainment), which aired on the 3rd, resolved all the tangled memories and misunderstandings between Song Ha-ran (Lee Sung-kyoung) and Seon Woo-chan (Chae Jong Hyeop), and each character drew love and life brilliantly in their own places, bringing a beautiful full stop. The final episode recorded a 3.1% nationwide household rating according to Nielsen Korea. It concluded the story while leaving behind a final 'radiant moment.'
In the episode, Seon Woo-chan disappeared without a trace after submitting his resignation, and Song Ha-ran pursued his whereabouts as she moved toward the truth. Through Park Man-jae (Kang Sukwoo), Song Ha-ran realized that Seon Woo-chan had been preparing for a long time to reveal all the truth, and amid belated regret and longing she revealed her poignant feelings with the confession, "No matter what secret Seon Woo-chan hid, I simply cannot hate him."
Through Cha Su-jin's (Lee Joo-yeon) confession, the truth behind the Boston explosion seven years ago was revealed, and the drama's tension reached its peak. Cha Su-jin and Kang Hyuk-chan (played by Kwon Do Hyoung), who were hospitalized in the same room at the time and grew close, relied on each other and gradually developed feelings. With Kang Hyuk-chan deciding to end his relationship with Song Ha-ran, Seon Woo-chan continued conversations with Ha-ran using Hyuk-chan's swapped laptop, and the relationships among the three began to twist further.
On the day Song Ha-ran was supposed to come to Boston, Seon Woo-chan told Kang Hyuk-chan that he had been communicating with Song Ha-ran for a month, which intensified the conflict between Chan and Hyuk-chan. Su-jin, who tried to stop the two, calmed the situation by telling Ha-ran to apologize sincerely, saying it was her and Hyuk-chan's fault. While Hyuk-chan, lost in thought, accidentally dropped a lighter, an explosion occurred. Kang Hyuk-chan died in the accident, and Seon Woo-chan was seriously injured. Contrary to the guilt that had long bound Seon Woo-chan, the cause of the accident was Hyuk-chan's negligence, and Seon Woo-chan was actually a victim of that accident.
Cha Su-jin's confession corrected Seon Woo-chan's distorted memories and the hidden truth, marking a decisive turning point that cleared all misunderstandings surrounding the four. Song Ha-ran barely restored Seon Woo-chan's shattered drawing pad and checked the records he left behind. She learned that seven years ago she twice saved Seon Woo-chan and discovered the heartfelt feelings he had harbored for a long time. Having finally approached the whole truth, Song Ha-ran went to find him in Gangneung, and they finally reunited on the beach. Embracing his guilt with the words "It's not your fault," Song Ha-ran and Seon Woo-chan, who escaped distorted memories and faced reality, comforted each other's wounds and reaffirmed their love.
After undergoing fragment removal surgery and recovering, Seon Woo-chan promised a future with Song Ha-ran with a sincere proposal: "Will you be with me for all my remaining seasons?" The two, who share the four seasons together, concluded the radiant journey of a mutual redemption romance.
Kim Na-na (Lee Mi-Sook) and Park Man-jae held a wedding, bringing the twilight romance to fruition. Having become more precious after the surgery, the two chose to be each other's "rest" in life, adding a gentle touch of emotion. Also, Song Ha-young (played by Han Ji-hyun) and Yeon Tae-seok (played by Kwon Hyuk) confirmed their feelings amid crisis and developed into a couple, and Song Ha-dam (played by Oh Yeju) and Cha Yoo-gyeom (played by Gen.Kim Tae-young) also protected both their dreams and love, announcing new beginnings in their respective places.
In this way, In Your Radiant Season completed the "four seasons of love" through diverse love stories that span generations, from the three sisters' love to twilight romance. Especially centered on the incident seven years ago, the setting of the characters' emotions and the hidden "one-inch memory" was developed densely, raising the show's completeness. Added to this were delicate emotional performances by actors including Lee Sung-kyoung, Chae Jong Hyeop, Lee Mi-Sook and Kang Sukwoo, director Jeong Sang-hee's sensuous direction, and writer Jo Seong-hee's warm writing, combining to cement the series as a well-made emotional drama that leaves a deep aftertaste until the end.
Meanwhile, following In Your Radiant Season, Perfect Crown, starring IU and Byeon Woo-seok, will air.
