It has been two years since actor Song Min-hyeong, who brought warm laughter and emotion to living rooms, passed away.
April 3, 2026, marks the second anniversary of the death of the late actor Song Min-hyeong. He died on April 3, 2024, after battling gallbladder cancer. He was 70.
Before dying while battling gallbladder cancer, Song Min-hyeong had shown a will to live by overcoming liver cancer. He said, "The liver cancer was larger than 5cm. The hospital wanted to cut it out quickly, but I endured it. At the time we were filming 'Jumong' so I only received chemotherapy." He had cancer cells discovered and treated in 2012, 2014 and 2016, and after being declared cured in 2022, Song Min-hyeong underwent gallbladder cancer surgery and battled the disease but ultimately did not recover.
He began his career as a child actor in 1966 and appeared in LA Arirang, Hong Gil-dong, Soonpung Clinic, The Age of Wanderer, Jumong, The Legend, High Kick Through the Roof, Sign, The Greatest Love, Bridal Mask, Bad Detective, SKY Castle and Stove League, among others. From 2007, he played the father of Lee Young-ae (Kim Hyun-sook) in the tvN series Makdaemeokneun Young-ae for more than 10 years, meeting viewers repeatedly.
At the news of Song Min-hyeong's death, Kim Hyun-sook, who played his daughter in Makdaemeokneun Young-ae, could not hide her emptiness. Kim Hyun-sook said, "It's like in real life, but the image of my father in the drama came to mind a lot. That day my younger sister (Lee Young-chae's role) (Jung) Da-hye and I had schedules that matched so we went together, and it was very hard on my heart."
