The music of the late Wheesung resonates again across time.
TAJOYENT will release the project album Wheesung tribute x MBC it's LIVE, "Hwayangyeonhwa Part.2," at 6 p.m. on the 3rd through various music sites.
This album is the second installment of a tribute project planned for Wheesung's first anniversary, in which artists connected to him reinterpret and present his signature songs anew. Filled with memories and longing in their respective voices, it was completed with the intention of ensuring Wheesung's music, which continues to be loved unchanged over time, is remembered for a long time.
"Hwayangyeonhwa Part.2" features Jung In, Jo Jazz, K.WILL, HYNN (Park Hye-won), and Kim Jinho, and contains a total of five tracks.
Title track "An Dwenayo" is performed by Jo Jazz, who reinterpreted the original's poignant emotion in his own colors. Over vocals enhanced by a sensuous tone and detailed expression, a soulful arrangement centered on brass sounds comes together to rebirth the track as one that delivers a familiar yet new emotional impact.
Jung In remembers Wheesung once again with "I like singing," following "I don't mind getting hurt" from "Hwayangyeonhwa Part.1." With deep soul and a distinctive tone, she delicately brings out the authenticity of the song, and a saxophone melody added between Jung In's vocals from the latter half of the second verse naturally elevates the song's flow.
K.WILL, known as one of Wheesung's long-time close friends, interpreted "Mi-in (美人)" in his own emotional style. With explosive vocal power and delicate emotional expression, he vividly painted the sorrow of parting and deep feelings, and from the second verse Wheesung's voice appears, the two voices harmonizing to leave a deep aftertaste.
HYNN expresses the emotions of parting through "If it's a year." Starting centered on piano and vocals, HYNN's explosive ad-libs build through the latter half, progressively raising the song's emotions and densely conveying longing that does not fade with time, delivering another resonance.
Finally, Kim Jinho conveyed deep emotion through "Walking the sky." Known as a fan of Wheesung, Kim Jinho completed a stage that conveyed the feeling of longing even more deeply with heartfelt interpretation and deep affection for the original.
The album title "Hwayangyeonhwa" is the subtitle of Wheesung's debut album title track "An Dwenayo" and means "the most beautiful and brilliant time." As Wheesung's songs, which led the heyday of Korean R&B, remain important references for many vocalists today, this tribute album is expected to once again shed light on his musical value.
All tracks from the Wheesung tribute x MBC it's LIVE project album "Hwayangyeonhwa" will also be presented as live clips on the it's LIVE YouTube channel. "Hwayangyeonhwa Part.1" had all stages released in order starting on March 20, and "Hwayangyeonhwa Part.2" will likewise have live clips released in succession starting with K.WILL's "Mi-in (美人)."
