Actor Oh Yeon-a rose for the first performance of the play "Jeong-hee," delivering a powerful performance that exploded with delicate emotional lines.
The play "Jeong-hee," in which Oh Yeon-a appears (production: T2N Media Co., Ltd., co-production: Rhino Company, planning cooperation: Studio Dragon), is a spin-off based on the worldview of the tvN drama My Mister, centering on the familiar but insufficiently illuminated character "Jeong-hee" and newly unfolding an independent narrative.
On the 2nd, Oh Yeon-a, who rose for the performance of "Jeong-hee," played the role of "Jeong-hee," the owner of the neighborhood bar "Jeong-hee's" and a friend who grew up in the same neighborhood as the Dong-hoon three brothers, leading the play with acting that moved the audience. She transformed into the character itself by portraying the complex and multifaceted psychology of "Jeong-hee," who swings between cheerfulness and lethargy, through breath, facial expressions and gesture details, receiving great acclaim.
First, his appearance, tormented by desperate loneliness in "Jeong-hee's," where a crack had formed in the wall, was enough to bring tears to the audience. In the scene where he continues a drunken monologue, he convincingly conveyed the character's situation and increased immersion. In the latter part of the play, he explosively revealed a long rift with Gyeom-deok (played by Lee Kang-woo) through a voice full of appeal, and later captured attention by refreshing emotions as he installed a window in "Jeong-hee's."
On the other hand, Oh Yeon-a's portrayal of "Jeong-hee's" cheerful and warm facets also left viewers emotionally moved. She delivered trivial jokes to repairman Garam (played by Heo Yeong-son), carefully looked after Jian (played by Kwon So-hyun), and strongly contrasted "Jeong-hee's" human aspects through an unpretentious smile and lively speech, leaving a deep impression. She also repaired both the shop and hearts as if dancing with a hammer, transforming "Jeong-hee's" into a warm space, leaving a lingering impression for the audience.
After the performance, at the stage greeting, Oh Yeon-a expressed her feelings, saying, "I personally wanted to reorganize my life, so I joined this work. Thank you so much to the actors, staff and production team who joined me. I don't think there has been a major reorganization of my life. Just meeting the audience today feels like the reorganization of my life is beginning. Thank you," and she wrapped up the first performance successfully amid generous applause.
Thus, Oh Yeon-a, as the lead of the play "Jeong-hee," led the play for 100 minutes and delivered deep emotion. Having shown solid acting skills by continuing to transform with a thousand faces in productions such as the play My Mister, MBC "Mary Kills People", KBS 2TV "Walking On Thin Ice", LG Uplus STUDIO X+U's "Hunter with a Scalpel", and SBS "Revenant", actor Oh Yeon-a is expected to continue her stage activities through this play "Jeong-hee," drawing attention to her future moves.
Meanwhile, the play "Jeong-hee," in which Oh Yeon-a appears, runs at YES24 Art One Hall 3 through Sunday, June 14.
