DAY6 member Wonpil is maximizing immersion in his new album through diverse promotions.
Wonpil released his solo mini album 1, 'Unpiltered', on March 30. This new release from Wonpil is his first work in about four years since his solo debut album 'Pilmography' in February 2022, and it is an album that expands and conveys the various emotions he has felt through music. The new album ranked No. 1 on the Circle Chart daily album chart for the 30th and No. 1 on the Hanteo daily album chart for the 31st.
The title track 'Sarangbyeongdong', which Wonpil co-wrote and co-composed, is a song that expresses a desperate plea for rescue amid a life barely holding on while collapsing from the unending pain of love. The emotional guitar melody in the introduction and the explosive band sound combine with his compelling high notes to leave a strong impression. The music video effectively conveyed the song's message through Wonpil's restrained emotional acting.
The new album includes the title track along with "Toxic Love", "I became an adult", "Up All Night", "Step by Step", "Not a million flowers but", and "Piano", and all tracks entered the Melon Top 100 chart on the day of release, showing the intense interest from music fans.
In particular, Wonpil planned multilayered events to mark the release of his solo album and strengthen close bonds with My Day (fandom name: My Day).
First, ahead of the official release of the new album, he heated up excitement by holding "WONPIL : Unpiltered Layers" in Seongdong District, Seoul, for three days from March 27 to 29. The listening popup featured a listening zone, a space to view photos related to the album, and gifts of soaps personally scented by Wonpil, with synesthetic staging that stood out by encompassing sight, hearing and smell.
On April 5, Sing-Along Day will be held, and My Day will help complete Wonpil's album 'Unpiltered' with their voices. Keeping the momentum, from May 1 to 3 he will hold his solo concert "WONPIL SOLO CONCERT 'Unpiltered'" for three days at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa District, Seoul.
Having endured time in music, singing listeners' well-being with his warm voice, Wonpil is updating listeners' spring playlists with a solo album that deepens emotional depth. /mk3244@osen.o.kr
