'Son Seok Hee's Questions' Sung Si Kyung revealed his honest feelings about activities in Japan.
On the 1st broadcast of MBC 'Son Seok Hee's Questions,' singer Yoon Jongshin and Sung Si Kyung appeared, and Sung Si Kyung mentioned his activities in Japan.
That day, when the Japanese variety show appearance that had attracted attention was brought up, Sung Si Kyung said, "How nervous I was. You have to do it exactly like that."
At that time, a video of Sung Si Kyung singing was shown in the studio. Seeing this, Yoon Jongshin exclaimed, "He does well. It's tough, that thing," and Son Seok Hee asked, "I heard that if even one note is off you get eliminated?"
Sung Si Kyung recounted behind-the-scenes, "There is a criterion decided by a machine. But if you sing as if you are singing, you immediately fail. You have to do it exactly like a machine. You can't put singing emotion into it. You must sing like a machine to pass."
He added, "I was so embarrassed that I hoped many people wouldn't see it. But many people said it was good, so I kept quiet."
In particular, he said that "Heroine" was a song he memorized in three days. Sung Si Kyung recalled the filming, "If you look at the pitch while singing you miss the lyrics. Conversely, if you look at the lyrics you miss the pitch, so it was very difficult. Inside the studio you stand in front of the camera and start the interview. They ask if you will take on the challenge."
He went on, "If you pass, the second interview starts for 20-30 minutes. I went up to level 9 and did it for almost four hours. I was drenched in sweat. Of course they give water, but the more you speak your throat gets tired and the levels get higher as you go," saying he even experienced stomach cramps.
Meanwhile, Son Seok Hee mentioned "silk clothes." In response, Sung Si Kyung joked, "Don't people say they wrap good things in silk to send overseas?"
Sung Si Kyung also said, "The funny thing is they said it wasn't bad in Japan. But it did better in Korea. Even the band Back Number's song charted. I hoped I would do well in Japan, but Back Number did so well in Korea. The members of Back Number know this. They said they want to invite me to a concert next time," adding, "For me it became a big business card. Maybe it's the beginning now."
Sung Si Kyung is a top ballad singer in Korea, but he went to Japan and is active as a new singer. Son Seok Hee asked, "Aren't you afraid of starting as a rookie at the top?" Sung Si Kyung replied, "It's been a while since I started, but I think I liked being a rookie. No one recognizing me feels like living a second life. I think it's an opportunity to challenge myself again."
He continued, "My face is well known in Korea but no one recognizes me. I want to challenge myself again as a singer. I'll do whatever they tell me. The company isn't powerful and I'm going through a lot of trial and error," but showed a cheerful mood.
Sung Si Kyung said, "Strangely I feel energized and happy. My personality is crooked, so when someone praises me I'm embarrassed and dislike it, but when they say 'Who is that?' I want to show myself a bit. I have such a strong desire to challenge. I want to compete in singing," revealing his passion.
Meanwhile, Sung Si Kyung, who plans to release a new song in Japan, confessed, "I am releasing a mini album. That is not easy either. It seems it will be in the red."
