Actor Lee Jang-woo spoke out about allegations that he is a figurehead for the sundae soup restaurant he operates.
On the 2nd, a new video titled "I will speak about the recent controversy" was released on the YouTube channel "Fat Uncle Lee Jang-woo."
That day, Lee Jang-woo said in response to claims that he only lent his name to the sundae soup restaurant for promotion, "So it's not like I just put my name on it and promoted it. I really love food, and among them I love sundae soup so much that I really wanted to run a sundae soup restaurant."
Lee Jang-woo explained, "I now participate in menu development and recipe development, but doing only that doesn't mean you can run a store. For things like interior, staff management and overall setup, I received help from professionals. One of my childhood friends ran a butcher shop for a long time. He is a meat expert, so that friend took the role of CEO."
He continued, "It's absolutely not that I just put my face on it and stepped back; there are professionals, and I do menu development. And it's absolutely not true that we manipulated accounting or just put a neighborhood friend in place," he emphasized.
He added, "Honestly, this incident made me think a lot. I'm sincere about food, but it seems that wasn't conveyed well. From now on I need to look around more, think, and approach food more maturely. I am preparing to show a more mature, well-aged side of Lee Jang-woo."
