"Brave Detective 5" reveals the full story of a violent crime that began with a kidnapping and led to murder after a disappearance.
The second episode of Brave Detective 5, directed by Lee Ji-seon, airing on E Channel on the 3rd, features detective Kim Myeon-jung, former police superintendent Yoon Woe-chul and police inspector Kim Jin Soo, who disclose their investigation logs.
The episode begins with an unbelievable kidnapping that took place in the middle of an airport. The golf course owner, his son and their driver — three adult men — vanished in an instant near the busy airport. The situation at the time was captured in full on CCTV.
A car stopped in front of the crosswalk where they were waiting for the signal, took the three men in an instant and left the scene. Tracking the kidnapping vehicle revealed it was a rented car hired by a gangster wanted on murder charges. However, during the investigation it emerged that the individual's identity had been stolen and evidence indicated he was not the actual perpetrator, and the case entered another phase.
The case was converted to a public wanted notice and was widely reported in the media. But three hours after the incident, news emerged that the victims had escaped on their own, raising suspicions of a "staged act." The victims' side claimed they had been arrested by the National Intelligence Service (NIS) on espionage charges, and clues found at the confinement site showed it was not a staged act, making the case even more complicated. Behind what appeared to be a simple kidnapping, the perpetrators' horrific plan and the unexpected identities of certain individuals slowly came to light.
Next, KCSI sheds light on another case that began with a report that a younger sister had lost contact. The sister, who had been at her boyfriend's house and said she would be home soon, never returned all night and her phone was turned off. The boyfriend later said he did not know her whereabouts, and about four hours after the last contact it was confirmed that cash had been withdrawn four times from the missing person's bank account.
The case escalated to a violent crime, and CCTV footage showed a man wearing a mask and hat. It appeared someone had kidnapped the sister for money. But on the fourth day after the missing-person report, a severely decomposed female body was found on the roadside of a highway, and the case raced toward a shocking conclusion. Yoon Dujun said, "It's so chilling," and Kwak Sun-young said, "I think they're out of their mind," unable to hide their anger. The slowly revealed truth of the case, the identity of a perpetrator no one expected and the shocking last words left by the perpetrator just before the crime are all revealed on Brave Detective 5.
