Netflix film "K-pop: Demon Hunters" director Chris Appelhans, who won two Academy Awards, entered Korea with his family to film Welcome, Is It Your First Time in Korea?
On the 1st, MBC every1 variety program Welcome, Is It Your First Time in Korea? (abbreviated Welcome, Korea) said Appelhans entered the country that morning with his Korean wife and their 5-year-old son and began filming in earnest. This shoot will be carried out with the concept of a family trip to Korea.
Appelhans co-directed the Netflix animation "K-pop: Demon Hunters" with Korean-Canadian director Maggie Kang, and the film won two awards at the 98th Academy Awards. He, who has a Korean wife, has long shown deep interest in Korean culture.
This broadcast will depict the travel story of Appelhans and his family visiting Korea with his Korean wife. In particular, the main content will feature Korean experiences with his 5-year-old son, who showed interest in Hangul after seeing the work. The production team said that because past visits to Korea influenced the work, this visit is also expected to be a meaningful time.
Appelhans is scheduled to attend a Netflix "K-pop: Demon Hunters" Oscar celebration press conference that afternoon. Interest is expected to continue as the filming schedule and official activities coincide.
Welcome, Is It Your First Time in Korea? airs every Thursday at 8:30 p.m., and Appelhans's appearance is expected to be released at the end of May.
