Singer and MC Park Sang-kyu, who comforted the era with his voice, has been gone for 13 years.
April 1, 2026, is the 13th anniversary of the death of the late Park Sang-kyu. The late Park died on April 1, 2013, from a recurrent stroke. He was 70.
Park Sang-kyu stopped broadcasting activities twice, in 2000 and 2008, to concentrate on treatment after strokes. In early 2013 he appeared on a program, revealed his battle with illness and expressed his will to rehabilitate, but in the end he could not get up, drawing sorrow.
Born in 1942, Park Sang-kyu debuted as a KBS first-generation exclusive singer in 1963 and produced hits such as "Joyakdo" and "Festival." Loved greatly as a singer, Park Sang-kyu also worked as an MC, hosting shows such as "Saturday Saturday Is Fun," "Sunday Night Parade," "Trot Cheongbaekjeon," and "Star Is My Friend" in 1997, and received the grand prize for contributions at the 11th Korea Entertainment Arts Awards in 2004.
