BTS dominated the U.S. Billboard charts, leaving an unprecedented mark in the history of popular music.
According to the latest chart from U.S. music publication Billboard (April 4), released on the 31st of last month, the title track SWIM from BTS's fifth full-length album Arirang (ARIRANG) rose to No. 1 on the main song chart, the Hot 100. Of the 14 total tracks, all 13 vocal tracks charted except for the interlude track No. 29, which contains the bell sounds of the Seongdeokdaewang Sinjong. A total of seven songs placed within the top 50. Leading with No. 1 SWIM were Body To Body (No. 25), Hooligan (No. 35), FYA (No. 36), Normal (No. 41), Aliens (No. 47), and 2.0 (No. 50).
This album is filled with a variety of genres such as hyper jersey club, soul pop rock and alternative hip hop. That all the vocal tracks entered the Hot 100 is proof that their music satisfied listeners with diverse tastes. It also represents that they have the support of a wide range of music fans beyond the K-pop fandom.
Their global chart performance was overwhelming as well. The title track SWIM topped both the Global 200 and the Global (excluding U.S.) charts, marking the group's eighth No. 1 on each chart. In particular, on the Global (excluding U.S.) chart they swept positions 1 through 13. This surpasses Taylor Swift placing nine songs in the top 10 on Oct. 10, 2025, and Bad Bunny placing two songs in the top three in February. Moreover, BTS is the first artist in Billboard history to have a single artist occupy the top ranks of that chart entirely.
According to counts by U.S. entertainment industry data firm Luminate, SWIM reached 108.8 million streams and sold 221,000 copies to take No. 1 on the Global 200. The heat spread across the album, with nine songs including the title track entering the top 10 simultaneously. That was the most weekly top-10 entries since Taylor Swift in May 2024. With this, BTS has accumulated 20 songs and 21 songs in the top 10 of the Global 200 and Global (excluding U.S.), respectively. These too are the most among groups worldwide.
Arirang also topped the main album chart, the Billboard 200 (April 4). With 641,000 album units, it recorded the highest weekly sales for a group album in more than a decade. BTS last simultaneously topped the Billboard 200 and the Hot 100 about six years ago with their seventh EP BE and its title track Life Goes On in 2020. In addition, they swept this week's Artist 100, Digital Song Sales, World Digital Song Sales, Top Album Sales, Top Streaming Albums and Vinyl Album charts.
Meanwhile, BTS's fifth full-length album Arirang is a record that captures universal emotions that anyone can relate to. Chairman Bang Si-hyuk produced it, raising its level of completion. The title track SWIM reflects a will to keep moving forward despite life's adversities. RM participated in the songwriting and infused the candid story of 'BTS now'.
