The suspect who was arrested and charged for firing shots at pop star Rihanna's home has ultimately had her professional license revoked and is heading toward ruin.
According to the Daily Mail on the 31st (local time), Ivanna Lisette Ortiz (35), who is accused of firing shots at Rihanna's Beverly Hills mansion on the 8th, has had her California speech-language pathology license revoked, it was confirmed.
What makes this case even more shocking is the suspect Ortiz's identity. According to court documents, Ortiz was a professional who had worked as a speech-language pathologist for more than 10 years since 2016. However, her license was suddenly revoked at the request of the state attorney general due to this shooting incident.
Ortiz is currently facing 14 felony counts, including one count of attempted murder, 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and three counts of shooting at a residence. She pleaded not guilty to all charges at a hearing held last Wednesday.
At the time of the incident, nine people were at Rihanna's home, including Rihanna herself, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three children (a 3-year-old son, a 2-year-old son, and a 5-month-old daughter Rocky), Rihanna's mother, and two staff members.
Prosecutors said Ortiz fired shots not only at Rihanna's house but also at a neighboring house, and two people were believed to have been in a nearby home at the time. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but investigators said it was a very dangerous situation in which Rihanna and Rocky could have been shot.
It has not yet been revealed why Ortiz targeted Rihanna. However, it was revealed that she had repeatedly criticized Rihanna on social media in the past.
On Facebook, Ortiz made baseless claims that Rihanna spoke badly about her, and she is known to have repeatedly issued chilling threats mentioning Rihanna's death through videos and other posts. It was also confirmed that she has prior arrests in Florida for domestic violence and reckless driving.
The court set Ortiz's bail at $1,875,000 (about 2.5 billion won) and ordered that, if bailed, she be prohibited from contacting the Rihanna family and surrender any firearms.
