That day, In Soon-yi's daughter made a surprise appearance and, known as an elite daughter, greeted everyone warmly. Among various stories, she confessed to a harrowing accident she experienced in the United States. In Soon-yi's daughter recalled, "What was sad was the accident during life in the U.S.," saying, "It was after changing jobs when I was working at another company. It was when I went on a business trip to LA. I parked and went to the trunk to get a bag, and suddenly the car reversed quickly."
In Soon-yi's daughter said, "I was between the car and the wall and my hand was caught," and "I shouted for someone to call 119." She even said she has no memory from the ambulance. In Soon-yi's daughter said, "At that time the doctor asked, 'Can I cut the wedding ring?' so they cut the wedding ring for the surgery," adding, "When blood circulation stops and blood doesn't flow, it becomes necrotic; it was already a finger beyond help." In the end, she went to a hand surgery clinic and had seven operations. However, she lost her left little finger.
When In Soon-yi said, "It pains a parent's heart every time I look at her hand," In Soon-yi's husband reflected, "It's a difference in how you view it; if another part had been injured, the damage might have been worse." In Soon-yi said, "I'm so sorry and it's a story that sits heavy in my chest. When I see the injured hand it feels like my heart will be torn, but I didn't cry and endured because I didn't want my daughter to suffer," adding, "I've endured a lot in my life, so I'm good at enduring, but I didn't know enduring could be this hard," and she showed tears. In Soon-yi said, "I can endure my own matters, but I don't think I could endure matters of my child," and "Even though the child doesn't express it much, she endured the moment she collapsed well. I'm grateful she grew up strong and well."
In particular, In Soon-yi said, "I even thought about giving my daughter a prosthetic arm, but she said she didn't want it, and she posted on social media that she's fine and goes about her life," to which her daughter said, "I thought it would be more dignified to just be myself," and she reported that she wore a wedding ring again two years after the accident. She lost a finger and had post-traumatic stress, but she overcame it. In Soon-yi said, "Actually, she hasn't been this bright for even a year; now she even jokes well," and she showed emotion, saying, "I'm thankful and proud that she has openly and proudly overcome the acquired handicap she has."
