YouTuber Freesia confronted the controversy over her 'Galaxy disparagement' remarks head-on by publicly buying and using a Galaxy phone herself.
A new video featuring the newly purchased Galaxy phone was recently posted on Freesia's YouTube channel. In the video, Freesia unboxed the phone herself and used it in real life, offering candid reactions.
In particular, Freesia personally addressed the remarks that had surfaced in the past. She said, "I didn't disparage Galaxy or dislike Samsung; it was just that when I took those photos before, I didn't like how my face looked," and added, "Many people say that Galaxy photos turn out nicely these days, and there were comments asking me to compare iPhone and Galaxy, so I'm trying to capture a great photo."
After actually using the Galaxy phone, she said, "The selfie camera quality is really good. It feels like it was taken with a camera," expressing satisfaction. After using it herself and noting its advantages, she appeared to actively clarify the controversy stemming from her earlier remarks.
Earlier, Freesia stirred debate on her YouTube channel while talking about her boyfriend's phone model, saying, "Honestly, I'd be a little upset if my boyfriend used a Galaxy phone." She added, "My parents use it, but aren't parents and a boyfriend different?", "I think I'd be irritated if I imagined him taking pictures of me with that phone," and "The only people who could use Galaxy and be acceptable are my parents."
After the remarks were made public, criticism poured in online, saying, "It's careless to judge people by their phone model," and "It feels disparaging." On the other hand, some reacted, "She was simply honestly expressing personal taste," and "She was talking about standards for a partner's style."
As the controversy grew, Freesia apologized in a subsequent video, saying, "There may be people who were upset by the things I said. Rather than hating a particular brand, my tastes are strong, so my expression may have been harsh." She bowed her head and added, "Through this opportunity I learned about Galaxy's charms, so regardless of phone model I will show you my pretty side."
Afterward, Freesia revealed the newly purchased Galaxy phone herself and shared a real-use review, drawing attention by choosing to use the model that had been at the center of the controversy.
