After a battle with cancer, Hollywood star the late Shannen Doherty reached a settlement in her divorce court dispute with her ex-husband about two years after her death.
On the 30th (local time), according to the Daily Mail, Doherty's ex-husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko, recently reached a divorce agreement with Doherty's estate administrators. It is the culmination about two years after Doherty died at age 53 on July 13, 2024, following a decade-long battle with cancer.
The agreement drew additional attention because Doherty signed the divorce settlement at her bedside just one day before her death. After her death, however, the estate administrators continued legal disputes, claiming Iswarienko had not properly fulfilled the terms of the agreement.
Iswarienko's side countered that the submission of the agreement after Doherty's death raised jurisdictional issues, but the two sides ultimately agreed to end the legal dispute.
Documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court show the agreement includes specific details on property division.
First, Iswarienko agreed to pay Doherty's estate half of his interest in the jointly owned dwelling in Dripping Springs, Texas. He also agreed to return the coffee table and sofa owned by Doherty that he had refused to return, and to submit a list of photographic works featuring her.
In addition, he will pay the estate $25,000 for Doherty's share of the jointly owned Mooney M-20 aircraft (approximately 33 million won). In return, Doherty's estate agreed to return Iswarienko's guitars and audio equipment, including a stereo record player.
During her life, Shannen Doherty, who was beloved for the dramas Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and, despite repeated battles and recurrences, stayed connected with fans and did not lose hope.
Her publicist Leslie Sloan once said, "Divorce was something Shannen did not want until the end. But unfortunately she had no other choice," drawing sympathy.
