The group ILLIT returns with a new release infused with bold and candid charm. Attention is focused on their move to solidify their global momentum.
On the 31st, HYBE Music Group label Belift Lab Inc. said that reservations for ILLIT's fourth mini album MAMIHLAPINATAPAI, scheduled for release on Apr. 30, will begin at 11 a.m. that day.
The album title "MAMIHLAPINATAPAI" comes from the language of the South American "Yaghan," referring to the moment of a stare-down when both want each other but neither dares to make the first move. Various emotions that arise as a relationship deepens are woven throughout the tracks.
The title track "It's Me" captures ILLIT's bold energy. At the moment when doubts deepen about defining the relationship with someone you like after a first date, it is a song that boldly proclaims, "I'm your favorite!"
The infinite expansion of "ILLIT core" is expected. From the debut song "Magnetic" to "Cherish (My Love)", "Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)", and "NOT CUTE ANYMORE", ILLIT provoked public curiosity with fresh concepts in every release. They are evaluated to have solidified the "ILLIT core" by distinctly imprinting their unique and lovable sensibility.
The five members will broaden the "ILLIT core" by presenting another new musical world with this release. Belift Lab Inc. said, "ILLIT's honest attitude of focusing on the 'self' and even enjoying complex emotions is the album's listening point," adding, "You can look forward to the different sides of the five members (Yoon-a, Min-ju, Moka, Won-hee, Iroha)."
Last year ILLIT experienced remarkable growth. With mini album 3 "bomb" they achieved the record of entering the U.S. Billboard main albums chart "Billboard 200" for a third consecutive time, and the single album 1 title track "NOT CUTE ANYMORE" reached No. 7 on the Billboard song chart "Bubbling Under Hot 100," confirming solid popularity in the mainstream pop market. They also stood out on local Japanese music charts with their first original Japanese song "Almond Chocolate," and reinforced their global presence by winning the "Excellent Work Award" at the 67th Japan Record Awards.
ILLIT's solo concerts are also popular. The Seoul show of the first tour ILLIT LIVE 'PRESS START♥' sold out all performances on the presale day, and bolstered by fans' support, additional limited-view seats were opened over two days, making the intense enthusiasm palpable. ILLIT will tour Aichi on June 13-14, Osaka on June 20-21, Fukuoka on June 29-30, Hyogo on July 18-19, Tokyo on July 23 and July 25-26, and will conclude the tour in Hong Kong on Aug. 22.
