Allegations of sexual assault against translator Hwang Seok-hee have been raised, causing a stir. As a result, broadcasters quickly deleted videos featuring Hwang Seok-hee and began cutting ties.
On the 31st, tvN's You Quiz on the Block told OSEN that VOD will be edited and that YouTube clips are being set to private sequentially.
Hwang Seok-hee appeared on episode 143 of You Quiz on the Block, which aired in February 2022. But after recent allegations emerged about Hwang Seok-hee's prior sexual crime convictions, criticism has also fallen on You Quiz on the Block.
The Dispatch reported the day before that Hwang Seok-hee committed sexual crimes, including causing injury by forced molestation and quasi-rape, three times: twice in 2005 and once in 2014. According to the report, in 2005 Hwang Seok-hee molested two women he did not know near Kangwon National University in Chuncheon and assaulted two people who tried to stop him. As a result, four victims each suffered injuries corresponding to two weeks' treatment, and Hwang Seok-hee was tried on charges of causing injury by forced molestation and of nighttime·group assault and was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison with a two-year suspension of execution.
Also, in 2014 he was prosecuted on charges of quasi-rape of a cultural center student where he worked as an instructor and for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning Sexual Crimes, and was reportedly sentenced to two years in prison with a four-year suspension of execution, ordered to attend 80 hours of sexual violence treatment lectures and 80 hours of community service.
After this news was reported, You Quiz on the Block switched YouTube videos containing Hwang Seok-hee to private. It also said that VODs posted on OTT platforms will be edited.
Meanwhile, in addition to You Quiz on the Block, MBC's Omniscient Interfering View also joined in erasing Hwang Seok-hee. Hwang Seok-hee appeared on Omniscient Interfering View in February last year and revealed his real daily life for the first time. According to OSEN confirmation, episode 335 of Omniscient Interfering View featuring Hwang Seok-hee currently has its VOD deleted. Clips that had been uploaded to YouTube were also confirmed to have all been switched to private.
On the 30th, Hwang Seok-hee deleted all posts on his social account and said, "I am currently reviewing the matter with my lawyer. If the reporting includes parts that are not factual, unconfirmed content, or expressions beyond the scope of legal judgment, we will consider corrections and responses."
