Famous film translator Hwang Seok-hee was embroiled in allegations that he committed three sexual crimes in the past, and You Quiz on the Block has set his appearance videos on YouTube to private.
As of 1 p.m. on the 31st, all videos of Hwang Seok-hee's appearances are gone from the tvN You Quiz on the Block YouTube channel.
According to Dispatch the previous day, Hwang Seok-hee molested two women near Kangwon National University in Chuncheon in 2005, assaulted two people who tried to stop him, and in 2014 was given a suspended sentence for attempted rape and illegal filming of a student at a cultural center where he worked as an instructor.
In response, Hwang Seok-hee left a statement on social media saying, "I am currently reviewing the matter with my lawyer. If any part of the report is untrue, unconfirmed, or contains expressions beyond legal judgment, I will consider corrections and responses," and then deleted all his social media posts.
Amid controversy over translator Hwang Seok-hee's past sexual offense convictions, the film industry was thrown into confusion and fallout hit You Quiz on the Block, where Hwang Seok-hee appeared in 2022. In response, You Quiz on the Block quickly dealt with the matter by setting all related videos to private.
However, episode 143 VOD of You Quiz on the Block, in which Hwang Seok-hee appeared, is still available to watch on TVING. Regarding this, tvN told OSEN, "The VOD will be corrected, and YouTube clips are being set to private sequentially."
Meanwhile, translator Hwang Seok-hee graduated from Kangwon National University with a degree in English education and gained great fame by translating films such as Warm Bodies, Deadpool, Spider-Man, Carol, Spotlight and X-Men.
