ILLIT is showcasing an evolved "ILLIT core" with a new release that resonates with the 1020 generation.
ILLIT (Yoonah, Minju, Moca, Wonhee, Iroha) on the 31st at noon revealed the tracklist for mini album 4 "MAMIHLAPINATAPAI" (MAMIHLAPINATAPAI) on HYBE Labels' YouTube channel. According to it, the new release includes five tracks, including the title track "It's Me," "GRWM (Get Ready With Me)," "paw, paw!," "Mamihlapinatapai," and "Love, older you."
"It's Me" is a song that boldly exclaims "You're my favorite!" at the moment when, after a first date, one's worries about defining the relationship deepen. The song's lyrics were co-written by distinctive singer-songwriter Yura and The Deep, maximizing ILLIT's bold charm. Yura, who was praised for sensibly expressing ILLIT's quirky vivacity with unique lyrics in the single 1 title track "NOT CUTE ANYMORE," reunites with the members, raising expectations for the synergy they will create.
The tracks reflect the interests and sentiments of the same generation throughout. "GRWM (Get Ready With Me)," which depicts an intimate moment of sharing candid feelings with you while barefaced, and "paw, paw!," which contains affection for a beloved pet, are expected to resonate with listeners. "paw, paw!" is the first time member Iroha has participated in writing lyrics since debut, embedding her own experiences into honest lyrics. In addition, HYBE chairman "hitman" bang lent his support to create a delicate emotional line and enhance the song's completeness.
Also enriching the album are "Mamihlapinatapai," a song ILLIT offers to contemporary youth who have become "lazy perfectionists" amid countless choices and responsibilities, and "Love, older you," a letterlike song to the childhood self who had hard moments and wanted to give up. In particular, "Love, older you" contains the real stories of the five members, previewing ILLIT's distinctive sensibility.
Meanwhile, the tracklist was produced in the form of a motion poster, leaving a strong visual impression. Inspired by a DVD screensaver, the poster's focal point is the album logo floating inside the screen changing colors each time it collides with the wall. The design, which intuitively implements ILLIT's diverse concepts and wide musical spectrum, adds interest to the new release. ILLIT's mini album 4 "MAMIHLAPINATAPAI" will be released on Apr. 30.
