MBC ranked first overall in the '2025 viewer evaluation index (KI)' survey.
On the 31st, MBC said it ranked first among all channels, including terrestrial and general programming cable channels, in the '2025 viewer evaluation index (KI)' survey conducted by the Korea Media and Communications Commission and the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI).
In this survey MBC scored 7.52 points (on an 11-point scale), receiving the highest rating among terrestrial channels. This marks the second consecutive year MBC ranked first among terrestrial channels. In particular, MBC recorded the largest year-on-year score increase among major broadcasters, demonstrating clear growth in viewer evaluations.
According to the results, MBC also showed outstanding performance in the broadcaster channel performance index survey. Among the seven items surveyed, MBC ranked first for two consecutive years in reliability, fairness, public interest, diversity, and entertainment value (tied for first). In particular, it showed a wide gap from second place in the core public broadcasting values of reliability, fairness and public interest, firmly confirming that viewers recognize it as faithfully performing its role as a public broadcaster.
Meanwhile, the viewer evaluation index (KI) was introduced in 2005 to discourage ratings competition and promote qualitative improvement of broadcast programs; it is calculated by separately surveying "satisfaction with broadcast programs" and "qualitative excellence." This survey is significant in that it is the result of a single large-scale survey conducted quarterly four times a year of a nationwide online panel of 44,000 people aged 13 to 69.
