Actor Yeom Hye-ran suffered a violation of her portrait rights by the AI film "Geomchimwon."
On the 31st, a representative of her agency, Ace Factory, told OSEN, "Today we confirmed that an AI video unlawfully using actor Yeom Hye-ran's likeness was posted on YouTube. Our company did not consult on or permit the production of that video, and we inform you that the video has now been set to private and removed," the agency said in an official statement.
Earlier, the film "Geomchimwon" said it had implemented Yeom Hye-ran's face with AI to produce the film. In the process it was presented as if Yeom Hye-ran's portrait rights had been permitted, but that was not the case. The agency therefore took action.
In this context, some have raised concerns not only about portrait rights violations but also about the production of deepfake videos. As the controversy grew, "Geomchimwon" was switched to private.
Meanwhile, Yeom Hye-ran is set to meet audiences with the new film "My Name Is."<
