Actor Kim Yong-rim's husband and fellow actor the late Nam Il-woo passed away two years ago before we knew it.
March 31, 2026, is the second anniversary of the late Nam Il-woo. The late actor's death was reported on March 31, 2024, bringing sadness. He was 85.
At the time, his agency Management Yul said, "Actor Nam Il-woo passed away in the early morning," conveying the sudden bad news. It was reported that he died of old age without any chronic illness; he was known to have suffered a hip injury while shooting at the time but fortunately recovered. That is why the sudden news of his passing was all the more heartbreaking.
Born in 1938, Nam Il-woo debuted in theater in 1957, entered KBS as a voice actor in the third open recruitment, and worked as a fourth-generation talent, moving across broadcasting, film and theater as a veteran actor. He left a weighty presence in numerous works, including the dramas Dr. Romantic (note: original title '야인시대' literally means The Rustic Period), The King and the Queen, Empress Myeongseong, The King's Flower Fairy, and the film Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days.
In particular, during his lifetime he married actress Kim Yong-rim in 1965 and was loved as an acting couple, and with his son Nam Sung-jin and daughter-in-law Kim Ji-young continuing the line as an acting family, he was well known and received much public interest and affection as a so-called "actor family."
That is why the devoted confession of his wife Kim Yong-rim after his death has again attracted attention. Through broadcasts while he was alive, Kim Yong-rim expressed, "I am sorry there are so many things I couldn't do for my husband," which moved many people's hearts.
