Tonight (30th) at 8 p.m., KBS Joy Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller episode 358 will air, featuring chef Kim Hoon, who drew attention with the nickname Trendsetter on season 2 of Culinary Class Wars.
He currently runs three restaurants in Yongsan — an American home-style Western restaurant, a croissant specialty bakery, and a Namdo-style barbecue house — and they drew attention as a Yongsan Ridang-gil hot place as soon as they opened.
Chef Kim Hoon said he used the nickname Trendsetter during filming of Culinary Class Wars because he thought it was a good nickname, but now he is worried that it makes him look like someone who only chases trends and sought advice from the fortune tellers.
He majored in economics in college, and after military discharge he said that while backpacking he exchanged culture by cooking Korean food himself instead of paying for lodging. He said he then thought that if he gained various experiences abroad as a chef, he would be able to run the restaurant he wanted.
After returning to Korea he attempted the certified public accountant exam but failed, and eventually went to Australia on a working holiday and began to learn cooking in earnest. He said he spent about six years abroad honing his skills and even worked at a U.S. Michelin three-star fine dining restaurant to gain experience. Afterward he returned to Korea, received investment, ran a restaurant for four years, and now says he has settled as an owner chef after opening his shop.
After hearing the story, Seo Jang-hoon advised, "The name 'Trendsetter' will pass, and what matters is how long the name 'Chef Kim Hoon' lasts. Try using various feedback as an opportunity for growth."
Meanwhile, during the broadcast chef Kim Hoon drew attention by preparing a lasagna he made himself for the fortune tellers. Tasting it, Seo Jang-hoon said, "I see why it's popular," and praised, "It perfectly suits young people's tastes and is a flavor Koreans would like. From the meat to the various sauces, the balance of flavors is good." Lee Soo-keun also showed a reaction of admiration for his cooking skills.
In addition, stories such as a dating concern with a divorced boyfriend 17 years older met on a secondhand trading site and the story of a 29-year-old model whose daily life is affected by relying on fortune-telling can be seen on Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller episode 358, airing tonight (30th) at 8 p.m.
