Jung Yi-chan played Shin Ju-shin, chief of neurosurgery at Nuwa Hospital, in TV CHOSUN's weekend miniseries Dr. Shin (writer Phoebe (임성한), director Lee Seung-hoon), which aired on the 28th–29th.
In the drama, Shin Ju-shin is a genius doctor who swapped the brains of his lover Momo (Baek Seora) and his prospective mother-in-law Hyun Ran-hee (Song Ji In). After Hyun Ran-hee, who received Momo's brain transplant, died, Shin Ju-shin, confused by seeing a prospective mother-in-law with the appearance of his lover, ultimately made dangerous choices.
Shin Ju-shin accepted Momo's (Hyun Ran-hee's brain) proposal to live together, using a household leak as an excuse. Unlike his usual cold-headed demeanor, Shin Ju-shin could not bring himself to push away Hyun Ran-hee, who had his lover's face, adding to the tension. He evoked pity as he appeared shaken by memories of the past with Momo that suddenly resurfaced.
Shin Ju-shin's obsession to reclaim his lover turned toward Momo's stylist Kim Jin-ju (Cheon Young-min). While proposing a "brain change," Shin Ju-shin rattled Kim Jin-ju with a blunt pickup line, saying, "I want it to be you. Do you want to experience the man Shin Ju-shin?" In any situation, Shin Ju-shin freely displayed his deadly charm that captivates others, the so-called "fatal guilty man" persona.
Ultimately, Shin Ju-shin put Kim Jin-ju and Momo (Hyun Ran-hee's brain) on the operating table and carried out a second "brain change." This passage starkly reveals Shin Ju-shin's twisted desire that "if the appearance is the lover, I will stop at nothing." Curiosity rises about what unpredictable developments Shin Ju-shin will continue with Momo, who now has Kim Jin-ju's brain.
In this way, Jung Yi-chan portrayed a complex emotional line that swings between tender longing for his lover and a chilling obsession that spares no means to achieve his purpose, through restrained facial acting.
