Singer Yoon Jongshin and Sung Si Kyung will appear on "Questions from Son Seokhee."
On the 30th, MBC's "Questions from Son Seokhee" released still cuts of Yoon Jongshin and Sung Si Kyung and announced their appearance.
Yoon Jongshin and Sung Si Kyung are unquestionably the pillars of Korean ballad music and have become the elder statesmen of the music industry. They are also the top duo who have worked together on Korea's ballad classics, including the mega-hit "On the street." On "Questions," which meets Son Seokhee, the two unfold their narratives and their ongoing ballads with cheerful banter.
Even amid an idol-centered music industry trend, ballads have firmly held their place thanks to Korean sensibility. A survey found that 70 of the 100 songs Koreans most enjoy singing at karaoke are ballads, and ballads still dominate singing competition programs, which shows that the power of ballads is still alive.
Meanwhile, Yoon Jongshin consistently releases new work through "Monthly Yoon Jongshin," and Sung Si Kyung is expanding his stage to Japan to take on a new environment. In particular, Sung Si Kyung said his dream is a Tokyo Budokan concert in two years, eliciting Son Seokhee's response, "I will definitely go."
Talking about his hit song "Uphill Road," Yoon Jongshin said, "It has recently become popular in the stock market," and added, "People don't know well, but I also wrote a song called 'Downhill Road.'" There is an ironic feeling as the stock market has fluctuated repeatedly since the U.S. invasion of Iran. The two's banter remained lively throughout, and the atmosphere was consistently cheerful, while a seriousness not seen in typical entertainment programs also resonated with the audience. At times they maintained a tense back-and-forth with host Son Seokhee, showing the essence of a talk show throughout the program.
Season 4 of "Questions from Son Seokhee," which began its first broadcast during the recent Lunar New Year holiday, is now approaching its finale and has rare meetings with Go Seedol 9-dan, Faker Lee Sanghyuk, actress Shim Eunkyung and novelist Kim Aeran left to air.
The episode featuring Yoon Jongshin and Sung Si Kyung will air Wednesday, April 1, at 9 p.m. <
