BTS V revealed that he once gave up his dream of becoming a singer because of Gang Dong-won.

That day V, when asked when he dreamed of becoming a singer, said, "When I was in elementary school, when I was told to choose a job starting with the syllable 'sa,' I was the only one who said I would become a singer. My grandmother told me, 'Singers are for people like that, and actors are for people like that.'"
Jung Jae-hyung praised him, saying, "Families always oppose it. They absolutely opposed doing music," and added, "I said if Taehyung's talk doesn't work, just do eyes for five minutes, nose for five minutes, mouth for five minutes. He has such a beautiful appearance that he could go out like that."
V laughed and said, "Gang Dong-won was on that banner. My grandmother pointed and said, 'Those are the people you become.' So I accepted it. I gave it up."
He recalled, "So I gave up the dream for a while. I thought, 'That's the kind of person you become.' But I still liked music and liked being on stage. During Lunar New Year or holidays, I danced the bent-leg dance and took pocket money; I wasn't embarrassed about it like some veteran."
V said, "Because I liked dancing, if someone said, 'I'll give Taehyung 5,000 won if you dance,' I would dance for about three minutes. Getting pocket money that way was my kind of happiness. That's why I think I wanted to stand on stage."
