'Salimnam 2' Kim Gu Ra's son GREE blended into 'Salimnam 2' while showing off his still-sharp wit.
On the 28th broadcast of KBS2TV entertainment show 'Salimnam 2', broadcaster Kim Gu Ra's son GREE appeared. It was father Kim Gu Ra who opposed GREE's enlistment in the marine corps. GREE said, "I think my father opposed my enlistment in the marine corps because he couldn't serve honorably," and made a pointed joke about his father's status as a social service worker. Then GREE said, "But he bragged a lot. Someone might think you served in the marine corps," he said.
That day GREE welled up with tears watching Takuya reunite with his father after 25 years. Takuya is Japanese who lived in Korea for a long time and has family in Japan. However, he had a biological father, and after his parents divorced in his childhood he did not want to part from his father and only had the last memory of hiding behind a car. He thought his biological father was dead, but his mother confessed she hid the father from the children for fear of hurting them.
Takuya worried that his 71-year-old father this year might have a chronic illness or might have passed away. What he eventually learned was that his father was living outside central Tokyo in a suburban area.
Takuya said, "I'm on my way but I feel very complicated. Suddenly visiting and saying I'm your son and giving a gift would feel strange," revealing the feelings of a son who couldn't prepare anything. GREE said, "If it were me I probably couldn't say anything. Father, what do you say to that," and, being a devoted son to his father, he rather understood Takuya's feelings.
The father, seeing Takuya, immediately sat down crying and repeatedly apologized. The father said, "I hoped one day you would find me, and I also had to find you. I didn't expect a day like this," he said. Takuya comforted his father, saying, "My younger sister Momoka is doing well," he said.
The father said, "I still remember you crying in the car at the end. It even appears in my dreams. I dreamed it recently too," and spoke exactly about the last memory Takuya remembered, making everyone cry.
Meanwhile, GREE said he had Kim Gu Ra's support for appearing on 'Salimnam 2'. GREE said, "When I told him I'm going on 'Salimnam 2' today, he asked if I'd appear in the VCR and if my father would appear and said he'd help," and added, "Because my father used me a lot in the past."
Also, GREE proudly spoke of his lovely younger sibling, saying, "My younger sibling has grown a lot. She's 6 years old. She and my stepmother are going to Tokyo Disneyland in Japan," GREE said. Kim Gu Ra married a woman 12 years his junior and had a baby daughter at age 52. GREE said he used to call his then-not-much-older stepmother 'noona' but now the form of address has changed.
GREE shared a heartwarming anecdote, saying, "I originally called her 'noona.' On the day she was discharged, I began to call her 'mom.' I sent a text and apologized. With a little courage things changed so much."
