Lee Ju-yeon is leading the drama's tension by meticulously portraying the inner life of Cha Su-jin, a character who holds the key to the hidden truth in In Your Radiant Season.
In episodes 10 and 11 of the MBC Friday-Saturday drama In Your Radiant Season (planned by Namgung Seong-woo, written by Jo Seong-hee, directed by Jeong Sang-hee and Kim Young-jae), which aired on the 27th and 28th, Lee Ju-yeon, playing Cha Su-jin, turned the tables on the Boston incident from seven years ago that was tied to Sun Woo-chan (Chae Jong Hyeop).
Earlier, Cha Su-jin was revealed to be the owner of the "bracelet sound" in Sun Woo-chan's memory, and she emerged as the only person who knows the truth about the explosion that led to Kang Hyuk-chan's death, amplifying viewers' curiosity.
In that episode, after learning that Sun Woo-chan, who had been Kang Hyuk-chan's roommate, and Hyuk-chan's ex-girlfriend Song Ha-ran (Lee Sung-kyoung) are currently a couple, Cha Su-jin began to show subtle emotional changes and assert her presence. In particular, with Sun Woo-chan watching, Cha Su-jin deliberately mentioned that she had gone to Boston for training and brought up the expression "blank" to provoke Sun Woo-chan's anxiety. Later, when Sun Woo-chan returned and pleaded with her not to make things harder for Song Ha-ran, Cha Su-jin responded with a sharper attitude. In episode 11, Cha Su-jin's attitude completely changed. To Sun Woo-chan, who tried to retrace the memory of the day of the accident, Cha Su-jin said, "That's right. You hit Hyuk-chan that day," and pinned all responsibility on Sun Woo-chan, saying, "You, without any right, were coveting Hyuk-chan's girlfriend and caused the explosion that even killed Hyuk-chan," pushing him into extreme turmoil.
Moreover, Cha Su-jin froze momentarily at the description "Boston laboratory accident seven years ago" during a neurology department briefing, and after confirming that Sun Woo-chan did not appear for the test, she could not hide her anxiety. Lee Ju-yeon raised the other person's guilt to the extreme with sharp lines while delicately expressing the underlying agitation through wavering eyes and a trembling tone. In particular, the subtle emotional changes that flashed through her suppressed feelings were enough to simultaneously reveal Cha Su-jin's inner world and the hidden truth.
Thus, Cha Su-jin has established herself as a figure who reveals only part of the truth while determining the direction of the narrative. Especially since all relationships could be shaken again depending on how her words and choices unfold, attention is focused on how the truth she is hiding will be revealed and what kind of ending it will lead to as the final episode approaches.
