Rapper Dok2 and singer Lee Hi are heating up the music scene by announcing the establishment of a joint label, the release of a duet single and a public relationship all at once.
News of Dok2 and Lee Hi's relationship was first reported on the 28th by web magazine HIP. According to the report, the two jointly founded the hip-hop·R&B–based label "808 HI RECORDINGS (에잇오에잇하이레코딩스)", and announced they would formalize their romantic relationship along with the release of their first single "You & Me".
Dispatch also reported that Dok2 and Lee Hi began dating at the end of 2022 and are currently staying together in the United States, but neither side issued any official statement.
Afterward, the two turned on a live broadcast to celebrate the release of their new song "You & Me." While dancing along to the song, Lee Hi hinted at the relationship with meaningful actions such as casually putting an arm around Dok2's shoulder and showing off matching couple necklaces, and later the two began posting 'lovestagram' on social media, effectively confirming their public relationship.
Lee Hi posted on her social media, "To my one and only DOK2 and 808HI, happy birthday!" and wrote, "It has been a long journey. And finally today has come. I celebrate my person (MY MAN) Dok2's birthday and 808HI too! This is our celebration. Turn up the music loud and let's celebrate our beginning together," expressing deep affection for Dok2.
Dok2 also replied by calling out, "Is everyone listening well? More songs coming soon," referring to Lee Hi as "MY LADY," and drew attention by releasing photos showing him with his arm around Lee Hi's waist and with their shoulders around each other.
The two's connection goes back to 2016, 10 years ago. At the time, Lee Hi first met Dok2 when she featured on the song "Cheoreom" by Homidokki, a group formed by Yu Jae-seok and Dok2 for MBC's "Infinite Challenge" history hip-hop project. Afterwards, Dok2 returned the favor by featuring on Lee Hi's song "FXXK WIT US," and in 2017 Lee Hi participated in Dok2's birthday album title track "On & On" as lyricist, composer and vocalist, showcasing a special musical bond.
Colleagues in the hip-hop scene reacted enthusiastically to the couple's dating news. Rappers Sleepy and DinDin liked related posts, and Sleepy even commented, "Let's get married," to offer congratulations. Online communities also poured out past overseas sightings, such as "I saw the two together at a restaurant in Las Vegas three years ago" and "I witnessed them dating in the United States a few years ago."
