Actress Yoon Eun-hye revealed that she used to compare herself to other successful celebrities.
Yoon Eun-hye recently uploaded a video to her YouTube channel titled "When negative thoughts make me struggle (comparing myself to others on social media, loneliness, emptiness in daily life etc.)."
Yoon Eun-hye spent time interacting with fans by receiving their stories. It was a time to listen to concerns and offer advice. One fan, after looking at social media, opened up with the worry, "I keep comparing myself to others."
In response, Yoon Eun-hye said, "Actually, I don't think I'm completely free from those things either. When I was actively promoting I was often invited to many fashion shows like the Paris collections and New York collections. At some point those posts started appearing all over social media. There were times when I felt, 'I went to that brand too,' 'I used to be like that too.'"
She continued, "When I thought like that and expressed it too much, I felt very small and seemed to have no influence, and I felt a bit nostalgic for that period, and that made me depressed at times," and she added, "But I don't know when it started, I once thought, 'Let's not remember the past.' There are many things in my current reality that I am very grateful for, and there is the leisure I didn't have back then, and I love myself, enjoy my life, and feel somewhat free — those days were given to me."
She went on, "Gratitude that I couldn't feel at the time came later. Someone might travel, go to nice cafes, and eat delicious food, but isn't there clearly something else behind that?" and she said, "So, 'Aren't these things somewhat good for me?', 'Aren't these things somewhat stable for me?', 'If I do this, I'll go later?' Make it like a to-do list and try them one by one. Time for me, investments for me — it's okay to do them a little."
In particular, Yoon Eun-hye said, "I don't think I've bought expensive luxury goods in the past 10 years. But that doesn't mean I'm less happy or more withdrawn. I'm not saying those things are all useless. For someone, that one thing could be a huge source of happiness. But comparing yourself too much to someone else to do it isn't right."
