Comedian Yoon Taek, who lost his father, is keeping vigil at the funeral home in sorrow. The news, coming four days after he mentioned his father's battle with illness on a broadcast, adds to the sadness.
Yoon Taek's agency DCLEnT said on the morning of the 29th, "Yoon Taek's father, Im Jong-gak, passed away this morning while battling a chronic illness." He was 83.
Yoon Taek's father was reported to have been fighting biliary tract cancer. Yoon Taek earlier appeared on the cable channel tvN variety program You Quiz on the Block, which aired on the afternoon of the 25th, and mentioned his father's battle with illness.
On that broadcast, Yoon Taek said of his father, "He is in the final stages of biliary tract cancer. There isn't much time left. It's so hard every time I face my father. It's so hard to hold back tears," and he cried. His tears reflected his deep affection for his father.
Yoon Taek went on to say, "Nothing in the world is eternal, but he says he will go peacefully, and although it's regrettable, there is nothing we can do," describing the situation.
Thinking of his ailing father and shedding hot tears, Yoon Taek recalled that the general programming channel MBN's I Am a Natural Person brought great joy to his father. He said, "When 'I Am a Natural Person' aired, it seemed like the happiest moment in my father's life. Everyone liked it, and when we went to restaurants he would boast, 'Do you know I Am a Natural Person? Yoon Taek is my son,' and he was happiest then."
After the broadcast, support for Yoon Taek and his father, who was battling illness, continued. But heartbreaking news came four days later, and fans have expressed their condolences.
Yoon Taek is reportedly keeping vigil at the funeral home with his family in deep sorrow, and he is seeking understanding from those involved while adjusting scheduled appearances.
The funeral home for the deceased has been set up in room 17 of the Yonsei Severance Hospital funeral hall in Sinchon, Seoul, and the funeral procession will be held at 7:20 a.m. on the 31st. The burial site is in Dangjin, South Chungcheong.
