Broadcaster Lee Hwi-jae completed an emotional return after four years.
On the 28th, KBS 2TV's 'Immortal Songs' was presented as the "2026 entertainment world king of singers" special, and Lee Hwi-jae returned through that special for the first time in four years since 2022.
On the day, Lee Hwi-jae cautiously opened up, saying, "It would be a lie to say I have been fine," and "I went back and forth between Korea and Canada with my i-dle and my wife and did a lot of thinking." He continued, "The time during that period was time to reflect on my mistakes," confessing that he spent a period of self-reflection.
Above all, what drew attention was the story about his twin sons Seo-eon and Seo-jun, who have already become first-year middle school students. He said, "i-dle have reached an age where they know exactly what their father did and why he took a break," and added, "When they were young, they simply thought I was just going to exercise."
He went on, "As time passed, they came to fully understand my situation," revealing complicated feelings. He especially mentioned letters the i-dle gave him, saying, "They wrote that they wanted me to work," and eventually showed tears.
Lee Hwi-jae showed his affection as a father, saying, "If they see me on TV, i-dle will like it," and adding, "They know about the album I released and sing along to the songs and boast to their friends."
Meanwhile, Lee Hwi-jae halted activities and stayed in Canada amid various controversies surrounding his family, including complaints about noise between floors and an amusement park "eat-and-run" allegation.
