Webtoon artist Yaongi (real name Kim Nayoung) became a mother of two children.
On the 27th, Yaongi shared an update on her social account, saying, "I am finally cautiously sharing the reason I had taken a break from serializing and kept a low profile."
Yaongi announced the news of her second child, saying, "A baby angel came to our family." Yaongi released a late-pregnancy photo holding an ultrasound image taken with her husband, fellow artist Jeon Seonwook, and has also revealed the appearance of her newborn second son.
Yaongi had actually been on hiatus since December last year, and many fans were surprised to learn that the reason for the hiatus was her second pregnancy and childbirth. Yaongi said, "In these unfamiliar and overwhelming times, we are learning and feeling, one by one, the moments when four people become a family. I sincerely thank you for waiting quietly."
Along with this, her husband, Jeon Seonwook, released a late-pregnancy photo taken with his wife, saying, "From pregnancy to childbirth, and even now, my wife has really worked hard." Jeon Seonwook said, "Our son, who was born healthy. It was truly a very moving moment. I will become a great dad who does not neglect parenting, family life, or webtoon serialization."
Yaongi and Jeon Seonwook married in 2022. In 2021, Yaongi drew attention by revealing she was divorced and raising a son from her previous marriage.
In particular, Yaongi celebrated the double joy of being cleared of tax evasion suspicions and the birth of her second son. In 2023, the National Tax Service said it was investigating tax evasion suspicions involving about 80 people including entertainers, webtoon artists and YouTubers. It was reported that Yaongi had bought a supercar worth several hundred million won with company funds and supplied her works to her corporation without issuing invoices, thereby evading value-added taxes.
In response, Yaongi said, "On Nov. 16, 2022, a tax audit by the National Tax Service was conducted on my single-person corporation, and I cooperated faithfully with the investigation. As a result, it was recognized that there was no allegation of private use of my corporate card and vehicle. Taxes were imposed on some items that were improperly handled. That is clearly my responsibility and a mistake caused by lack of attention. I will take readers' criticism seriously."
