BTS has announced stadium concerts in major South American cities.
BTS posted detailed notice of WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG' IN LATIN AMERICA on the global superfans platform Weverse on the 28th. According to this, starting in October in Bogotá, Colombia, then Lima, Peru; Santiago, Chile; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and São Paulo, Brazil, they will hold 11 performances across five South American cities.
BTS will visit Colombia, Peru and Argentina as a full group for the first time. Jin previously appeared as a guest at Coldplay's Music of the Spheres world tour in Buenos Aires in October 2022 and performed his first solo single, "The Astronaut."
Peru's leading daily El Comercio described BTS as "one of the most influential cultural phenomena of the 21st century" while reporting on the Lima concert. It also predicted this concert would bring economic ripple effects to the local area beyond being a simple music event.
BTS's world tour continues to see rapid sellouts at every stop. The April 17-18 Tokyo Dome shows in Japan also sold out. Including already sold-out shows in Goyang and the North American and European tours, a total of 46 shows have all sold out. According to global concert promoter Live Nation, BTS sold about 2.4 million tickets across 41 North American and European shows.
Meanwhile, BTS's fifth full-length album released on the 20th, ARIRANG, is showing strength on global charts. The new release entered the U.K. Official Albums Top 100 at No. 1 (chart week March 27–April 3). The title track, "SWIM," rose to No. 2 on the Official Singles Top 100, setting a new record for the group. It also topped France's Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique's Top Albums chart (chart week March 20–26). In the German official music charts (Offizielle Deutsche Charts, chart week March 27), the new album and the title track reached No. 1 on the album and single charts respectively. Their previous best on the German official singles chart was No. 6 with "Butter." In Australia, ARIA crowned the release both on the Top 50 Albums and the vinyl chart simultaneously.
